The cost of a specific tube or flask and its contents is determined by three factors. First, its base components: a professional base formula of a cosmetics product, even without any active ingredients, will still perform significantly better than a cheap cream containing active ingredients.

Secondly, the active ingredients, which are selected according to the type of skin and beauty problem that the product needs to treat.

And finally, oddly enough, the price of the packaging wherein the beauty product is sold. In general, more expensive cosmetics are packed in the flashier glass or ceramic packaging, which make them both stand out from the rest and be more expensive.

From my personal experience, I can say that quality products do not need expensive packaging to sell well, while on the other hand, cost optimization can, in turn, favorably affect the price of the end product.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DEFINITELY NOT BE SAVING YOUR MONEY ON?

Russian women have a specific quality when it comes to beauty products – they are more prone to using decorative cosmetics, and pay far more attention to how their makeup looks, than to everyday skincare.

However, you should never try to save money on the latter. The arsenal of every woman should contain a properly selected cleanser, revitalizing product, and an everyday cream, all picked according to her type of skin and age group.

When talking about decorative cosmetics, we should pay special attention to the selection of a foundation, a decision where one should favor the more expensive products. It is important to remember that cheap foundations can clog the pores and negatively affect the condition of the skin in general. A correctly picked foundation will not only help the skin to look better, but will also improve its texture.

IMPORTANT!

Both expensive and cheap cosmetics products can contain the exact same ingredients. However, it is the proportion of the ingredients that makes the difference.

In any case, the final price of a cosmetics product is determined by the manufacturer. It is made up of the cost of the raw materials, the packaging, the advertising, the development and testing of the product.

However, on a state level, it is almost impossible to trace the price formation process, the main thing is that the package price should not exceed 1/10 of the finished product.

FACE, BODY, HAND, AND EYE CREAM: THE DIFFERENCE IN INGREDIENTS AND PRICE

The fact that the skin in the area around the eyes differs significantly from the skin of other body parts, is a well-known fact. The development of cosmetics depends in particular on the area it is intended to be used on and the thickness of the skin and its physiological properties in that particular area.

This is why there is no “universal” cream. So the use of many specialized products is completely justified from a physiological standpoint.

Moreover, the existence of your brand’s own laboratory manned by your own staff of chemical engineers is a necessity for the development process of any product. Unfortunately, only a handful of both domestic and foreign manufacturers can boast of such a thing: for example, Shiseido, Nuxe, Femegyl…

NATURAL COSMETICS DO NOT EXIST!

The term “natural cosmetics” brings up associations of 100% natural ingredients, the lack of colorants, preservatives and perfumes in the finished product. Supporters of cosmetics made from natural ingredients often say that “natural cosmetics” are safer and less allergenic (even though there is no objective evidence for this).

Besides, in the so-called “natural cosmetics”, there are often “identical to natural” ingredients present, and their shelf life is on average 12-24 months (natural cosmetics products would have gone bad during this time).

This is why “natural cosmetics” is completely different from “natural components”, keep that in mind!

STRAIGHTFORWARD ANSWER

Sometimes the way your skin feels when using the cheaper cream can be better than the feeling from “luxury” products, why exactly is that? What should you look at first – how the product feels or how it is priced?

When choosing a cosmetics product, it is pointless to focus on the price, since it is determined by many different factors (see above) and can often be quite subjective. You also can’t just blindly trust advertisements, which often trumpet the discovery of some kind of “elixir of youth”, which is claimed to be included in the makeup of the advertised product. The main thing you should base your decision on is how your skin feels.

By the way, the placebo effect can also be included in the list of modern pharmaceuticals. The overwhelming majority of Russian women think that, for example, an anti-aging cream should always be expensive, and that the effects from it should be accordingly special. And they really believe that they indeed feel those effects!

This is why modern cosmetics products also have a psychological effect on the consumer, based on the psychological and emotional state of the modern human being. Markedly positive effects from the use of modern cosmetics are often achieved with the use of various aromas meant to resemble our favorite smells, which we subconsciously connect with the pleasure we get from, for example, our favorite food.
